Friday 20th June
Happy Friday!
As we come to the end of another busy week, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on all the wonderful things that have been happening around school. It has certainly been a bright and sunny week—perhaps a little too hot at times—but the children have coped brilliantly and continued to make the most of every opportunity.
This week, our year two children have been taking part in their end-of-year two quizzes. These assessments help us to understand how well the children have progressed across the year, and we couldn’t be prouder of the effort they’ve put in. Their teachers have been especially impressed by their positive attitudes.
Both year four classes had the chance to visit Mount Pleasant Farm this week. The trip supported their history learning as they explored how farming has changed from the Stone Age to the present day. They took part in hands-on activities that gave them a real sense of what life might have been like for early farmers, from grinding grain to handling simple tools. One of the biggest highlights was meeting the farm animals! The children were thrilled to have the chance to feed the chickens and sheep.
On Wednesday, every year group took part in Sports Day, and what a fantastic day it was! Despite the heat, the children showed amazing determination and resilience across a wide range of activities. From classic races like the sprint and egg-and-spoon, to team games and field events. A big thank you to Miss Flood and Mr Brady for organising such a smooth and enjoyable day, and to the parents and carers who joined us to cheer from the sidelines – your support means so much to the children.
On Thursday evening, we hosted our 'New to Reception' Induction Evening,’ welcoming the parents and carers of the children who will be joining us in September. It was a pleasure to meet so many new families and to share a little insight into life at our school. Our year six prefects did a wonderful job leading tours and speaking to our visitors about their own experiences here. We then shared information about the Reception curriculum, the school day, and how best to support children as they prepare to start school for the first time. Starting school is a big milestone, and we’re excited to begin this journey with our new cohort and their families.
We’d like to kindly remind all parents and carers to be mindful when parking near the school at drop-off and pick-up times. Our school is located in a residential area, and it’s important that we show respect to our neighbours by ensuring their driveways and access points are not blocked. Please avoid stopping or parking on double yellow lines, across dropped curbs, or in a way that may obstruct others. Even short stops can cause inconvenience and frustration for local residents, some of whom need clear access at all times.
Have a lovely weekend and we look forward to seeing you on Monday!
