Friday 3rd October

The past two weeks have been full of activity and learning at school.

Last week, we were delighted to welcome a group of trainee teachers into our classrooms. They came to see how we promote our behaviour expectations, and they were very impressed by what they saw. They commented on the calm and purposeful atmosphere in lessons, and on how polite and considerate our children were throughout the school – feedback we are very proud to receive.

This week began with our reception phonics workshop. Parents had the opportunity to watch a phonics lesson in action and to learn more about how they can support language development at home. Thank you to all who attended.

On Tuesday, Year six enjoyed their fantastic World War Day. The children looked wonderful in their costumes and took part in a range of themed activities. As part of the day, they produced thoughtful and creative artwork inspired by Remembrance Day, showing real maturity in their reflections.

Thursday was our annual Census Day. As explained in our letter, the information collected plays a vital role in determining our school funding for the year ahead. Thank you to all families for supporting the school with this. The children particularly enjoyed the excitement of our special Census Day prize draw.

Thursday was another busy day in school. Year five travelled back in time to experience what it was like to be a Victorian child. The costumes were brilliant, and the children ended the day full of stories about the cane, the dunce’s hat and the strict rules of the classroom! They thoroughly enjoyed the chance to step into history and bring their learning to life.

Next week we are looking forward to the start of our Parents’ Evening appointments on Tuesday and Wednesday. If you haven’t yet booked an appointment, please do so via School Cloud, which can be accessed through our website.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend, even if its looking like it may be a bit wet!
