World Book Day Mar 26
Dear Parents and Carers,
We are pleased to inform you that on Thursday 5th March 2026 we will be joining in with the national celebration of World Book Day. We would like to invite all children to take part in this celebration with us. This year you have a choice about what you wear to celebrate! You could come dressed as your favourite character from a book, your favourite word (we love vocabulary at Olive Hill!) or come dressed in comfy clothing for comfy reading (even your pyjamas!) There is no need to spend money on a costume, however, as always, we encourage you to be as imaginative as you can!
Each child will receive one of the World Book Day books to expand their home library. The book will be one of the titles below; suited to the age of the child.
Reading for pleasure is the single biggest indicator of a child’s future successes – more than their family circumstances, parents’ educational background or their income (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development). Sharing a story is being read to or reading with an adult, sibling, friend – or pet for a minimum of 10 minutes. Ideally, this takes place at any time throughout the day, from breakfast till bedtime – at the breakfast table, on the bus, in the bath, or in bed.
We do hope that all of our children will enjoy sharing their books with you at home. Thank you for your continued support, and we look forward to seeing you dressed up to celebrate World Book Day on Thursday 5th March!
Kind regards,
Mrs Higgins
