Photography Club

This term, Year 5 and 6 have been given the opportunity to explore the process of recording an image using digital electronic devices at an afterschool club: Photography Club. They would really like to share their work with you.

To begin with, the children focused on composition. They used the rule of thirds to explore how this can change and enhance the focus of a photograph. They were able to capture lots of natural beauty around school.

Following this, the children explored different perspectives and how this can affect a photograph; we specifically focused on forced perspective by manipulating the subject of a photo to look larger or smaller. This took a lot of thinking and creativity!

After that, we explored how light can influence a person’s perspective of a photograph. We enjoyed creating a mood and atmosphere using natural light or an area’s lack of natural light.

Finally, we finished off with a free style session where the children could apply everything they had learnt so far. As well as this, they were able to use editing features on the IPADs to create a high-quality finish on their photos.

Here are some more of our final pieces. Can you guess the focus for each photo?
