Friday 24th November

The school has been a hive of activity this week. Christmas songs can be heard as each year group prepare for their various Christmas performances. Other year groups are preparing for their class performances and exhibitions to showcase their learning. You really are in for a real treat. Please do look at the school calendar on the website for performance dates.

Speaking of Christmas, you have received a letter regarding the mufti day next Thursday 30th November. The children may come into school in non-school uniform and in return, we would ask that you bring in an item to support our school Christmas Fair. We ask that each year donates the following item:

Nursery and Reception – Cakes and biscuits

Year 1 & Year 2 – Chocolate

Year 3 & Year 4 – Toiletries

Year 5 & Year 6 – Bottles

We look forward to seeing you at our Christmas Fair on Wednesday 13th December at 3.30pm.

Year 1 went on an adventure today as they either walked (or were driven on the minibus) down to Hurst Green Primary School, where they experienced a performance from a theatre company all about The Great Fire of London. They sat beautifully during the performance and joined in with the singing and dancing and even drew their own version of London. Well done year one we are very proud of how well you represented Olive Hill.

Our girls school football team came back victorious after playing several tournaments at Newman University. Mr Brady was incredibly proud of the skills and resilience they showed on the football pitch.

Mr Brady gave us a report of the match:

Six schools completed and played each other in a league format with the top two finalists playing in the final match. Although they had a disappointing start where they lost 3-2, the Olive Hill team won the remaining four games to finish second and qualify for the final. A tense final game led to a penalty shoot out in which one of our girls scored the winning goal. The girls played brilliantly and were an absolute credit to the school.

Reminder that next Friday (1st December) is an inset day so the school will be closed to the children. The teachers however will be doing some of their own learning by visiting other schools in our Academy Trust.

We hope you have a brilliant weekend and look forward to seeing you on Monday!
