Friday 22nd December

Happy Friday!

We hope everyone is enjoying the first day of the festive holidays! The wonderful Olive Hill staff are busy getting everything ready for the next term and preparing for the new learning that will take place.

We had a fantastic last week of 2023, with lots of continued curriculum learning and some festive activities. Christmas lunch was a hit, and their were lots of full bellies. Thank you to everyone who came to support our year 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 children as the sang on the playground, it was beautiful even when they needed to sing acapella due to a technical glitch.

Our final day of term was great fun, and we loved seeing everyone in their different outfits. We had lots of elves - both big ones and small ones, and we even had a banana! The children spent time in their year groups during the morning, then in the afternoon we all came together in the hall. To see all of the children and staff singing was a pretty awesome moment. Our reception and nursery children, who don’t often come to assembly, were so well behaved and joined in all of the songs. The children were treated to a mini performance from some of their school adults - this caused the whole hall to erupt with laughter, and they enjoyed singing about five toilet rolls (ask the children to explain).

Last Friday, we had James Morris the MP for Halesowen visit the school as one of our year two children had won his annual Christmas card competition. It was a pretty impressive design and we are super proud of them.

That is it for 2023. It is time for me to give my office a quick tidy before departing the building. A huge thank you to our community for your continued support. A big thank you to the Olive Hill staff for your dedication to the children. And, an enormous thank you to the children who make us smile everyday.

The school does now close for the next fortnight, to give everyone a well deserved break. The office will reopen at 8am on Monday 8th January and emails will be switched off until then also.

Wishing our families a wonderful Christmas and a happy new year. Have a fabulous time making memories together and we look forward to seeing you on Monday 8th January 2024 at 8.45am.
